Why heat networks

Hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in Great Britain get their heating and hot water from a heat network. Since January 2026 those customers have had protections much like gas and electricity customers: fair prices, accurate bills, proper complaint handling and extra help for people in vulnerable circumstances.

Many heat networks are run by housing associations, councils and small operators whose billing was never designed for that. Spreadsheets and old billing systems cannot show a regulator that every rule is being followed. heatnet was built to do exactly that.
